What exactly is a mushroom?

A mushroom, or toadstool, is the fleshy, spore-bearing fruiting body of a fungus, typically produced above ground, on soil, or on its food source.

Are mushrooms considered a fruit or a vegetable?

Neither. Mushrooms are fungi, which are so distinct in nature they are classified as their own kingdom – separate from plants or animals. While commonly placed in the vegetable category for dietary recommendations, mushrooms are, however, not vegetable based on their cellular organization and composition.

Which mushrooms can I eat?

We specialize in fresh mushrooms grown on farms. There are thousands of species of fungi in the world, but only a few are edible. Take caution when handling wild mushrooms, as they may be poisonous. If you are looking to identify wild mushrooms, it’s best to contact a trained mycologist.

When are mushrooms grown?

Mushrooms are grown and harvested year-round in our indoor grow facility and seasonally in our outdoor gardens. 

Will your products get me high?

No. Our nutraceuticals do not contain any psychoactive chemicals that are found in some varieties of mushrooms. We only grow and produce products made out of 100% legal and medicinal mushrooms.

What is a nutraceutical and what is a nootropic?

Nutraceuticals are food containing health-giving additives and having medicinal benefit.

Nootropics are drugs, supplements, and other substances that may improve cognitive function, particularly executive functions, memory, creativity, or motivation, in healthy individuals.

What’s the proper way to store nutraceutical products?

Our products are sensitive to direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, so it’s best to store in a cool, dry place without exposure to sunlight.
